LOS ANGELES - Senior Kevin Swickis one of 16 finalists for the TD Ameritrade Fan's Choice Award and voting is now open, it was announced recently by TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation and Intersport.
This annual award, now in its third year, recognizes college baseball players who excel beyond the diamond and whose leadership inspires others. Swick (La Canada, Calif./Loyola HS) and the 15 other finalists demonstrate integrity in all aspects of life, stay active in their community and are dedicated in the classroom.

Swick, who boasts a 3.83 GPA as a business administration major, has already been named a 2014 Capital One First Team District VIII All-Academic selection, after earning 2013 Capital One Academic All-American Third Team honors. He has been President of USC's Value Investing Club since 2011, where members attend Berkshire Hathaway meetings & compete in national pitch competitions. He has enacted a multi-year strategic plan to increase the prominence of the group on campus as well as its reputation for motivated and well-trained investors to enter the buy side. He has also completed internships with Fidelity Investments in Boston and Alaska Permanent Capital Management. Swick is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree.
Swick is very active in the USC community, as are many of his Trojan teammates. Since his freshman year, he has spent every Tuesday making and providing sandwiches, fruit, water and toiletries every Tuesday to the homeless on Skid Row through the USC Catholic Center Food for Homeless Operation. Swick has also participated in events with his teammates and Best Buddies, a group that creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He has also spent time visiting with veterans at the Los Angeles V.A. Hospital. He has also participated in community events that are USC Athletic Department wide, such as the Community Bowl, where student-athletes visit a local, underprivileged elementary school, paint murals, clean up the school and play games with the students. Swick has also taken part in a "Day in Troy," where students from the surrounding Los Angeles area, many of whom would be the first in their families to attend college get to visit USC, see the campus and get excited about what college has to offer.
Swick is also a two-time Male Trojan of the Year (2014 & 2013), an award that recognizes student-athletes that best exemplify the qualities of a Trojan - Faithful, Scholarly, Skillful, Courageous and Ambitious. He is a leader in the clubhouse as one of six student-athletes on the baseball team's leadership board (team captains).
On the field, Swick blossomed from a walk-on to a three-year starter for the Trojans. He finished the season batting .299, with 24 RBI and a team-leading 61 hits. He had 10 doubles, which ranks second on the team. He started all but three games at third base for a Trojan team that had their first winning season since 2005 and finished fifth in the Pac-12 Conference.
The TD Ameritrade Fan's Choice Award is the only college baseball award determined solely by fans. There are three rounds of voting: Round One opens today and ends June 9, with the Top 12 vote getters moving on to Round Two. The field will then be reduced to the top four vote getters on June 16. Round Three voting will end June 23, and the winner will be officially announced June 24. The winner will be honored at the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby in Omaha, Neb. on July 3, airing live on ESPN.
