TUCSON, Ariz. - Despite jumping on Arizona early with a 1-0 lead after the top of the first, the Trojans again could not contain the Wildcat offense, as a big four-run inning in the fifth put the Trojans in a hole they could not climb out of, as they fell 7-1 on Sunday.

In their final contest of the 2013 season, the Trojans tallied eight hits and were led at the plate by Greg Zebrack (Northridge, Calif./UPenn) and James Roberts (Cupertino, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS), who had a combined five hits on the day. However, as was the story of the season, the Trojans could not put together timely hits, leaving six runners on base.

Trojan starter Kyle Twomey (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS) took the loss, as he was hurt by a passed ball and an error that led to three unearned runs on five hits through 3.1 innings pitched. He also struck out two, while allowing two free passes.

The Trojans wasted no time getting an early 1-0 lead. With two outs, Roberts and Zebrack had back-to-back doubles and the Trojans took the lead.

The Wildcats answered in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own with two outs. Wildcat slugger Brandon Dixon doubled to left centerfield, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single from Zach Gibbons to tie the game, 1-1.

The Wildcats added two more unearned runs in the bottom of the second, after a throwing error extended the inning and allowed a double and a single to plate two runs and put the Trojans in a 3-1 hole.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Trojans touched up Brent Wheatley (Villa Park, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), who entered in a key situation in the fourth inning and recorded two key outs to put up a zero. In the fifth, however, the Wildcats scored four runs on five hits to take a 7-1 lead over the Trojans.

In the fifth and sixth innings, the Trojans had the leadoff man on, but they were unable to mount a rally in either inning.

Wyatt Strahan (Villa Park, Calif./Villa Park HS) entered in the bottom of the sixth and put up a zero, and was followed by Kyle Davis (Garden Grove, Calif./Pacifica HS), who threw the final two innings and did not allow a run on two hits.

Zebrack led off the top of the ninth with a single, but the Trojans couldn't string together any more hits and fell 7-1.

The game was the final contest in a Trojan uniform for seniors Adam Landecker (Calabasas, Calif./Calabasas HS), Matt Munson (Irvine, Calif./Saddleback College), Nick Berhel (Benicia, Calif./De La Salle HS) and Zebrack. Landecker finished his day 1-for-4, while Zebrack was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
