PULLMAN, Wash. - Derek Jones hit two homers, including a grand slam, as part of an 11-run fourth inning Saturday as the No. 24 Washington State Cougars beat the USC Trojans, 18-4, in game two of the Pac-10 Conference series. Jones finished with a 3-for-4 day and seven RBI while Michael Weber went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBI.

Washington State (30-18, 13-10) had 18 hits on the afternoon after recording 23 hits in last night's 20-7 victory. The Cougars have had three innings in two games where they have scored six or more runs against the Trojans.

James Wise went six innings for the Cougars and gave up three runs on seven hits while Seth Harvey pitched three innings, allowing one run on one hit for his second save on the season.

Ricky Oropesa had three RBI for the Trojans (25-30, 5-18), including his 16th homer of the season as the sophomore now has 29 career home runs. He is three shy of breaking into USC's career top ten list. Garret Houts went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, his second home run in as many games.

The Trojans loaded the bases in the third after the Cougars scored the first run in the second, but with one out, Wise struck out Keith Castillo and Cade Kreuter to get them out of the inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Matt Fanelli was hit by a Chris Mezger pitch before Jones hit a two-run homer that hit off the bottom of the right field foul pole. The Cougars sent 16 batters to the plate in the inning with Jones capping off the scoring with his 10th home run on the year with the grand slam to center.

The series concludes tomorrow at noon with a live broadcast on usctrojans.com.
