LOS ANGELES - Cody Keefer hit a two-run, two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth Sunday as the No. 11 UCLA Bruins rallied to complete the Pac-10 Conference sweep, 2-1, over the USC Trojans at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Keefer hit a 2-1 pitch from Chad Smith over the fence in right for the game-winner.

UCLA improved to 37-11 on the season and 13-8 in conference play while USC fell to 23-28 overall, 5-16 in conference.

Smith had thrown 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits until Brett Krill singled to right with the bases empty prior to Keefer hitting his second home run of the season. Kevin Couture threw five strong innings in the start for the Trojans, giving up just two hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Dan Klein (4-0) threw a perfect inning in the ninth for the win while starter Ryan Rasmussen gave up one run on six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in seven innings for the Bruins.

Cade Kreuter put the Trojans on the scoreboard first with a solo shot to left in the fourth, his eighth on the year.

The Bruins were stymied at the plate throughout the game and put a runner at second in the seventh and eighth innings, but were thwarted by Smith's pitching.

USC hosts New Mexico State in two non-conference games on Tuesday (May 18) and Wednesday (May 19) with a 7:15 p.m. start for both games that also will be broadcast live through a video webcast on usctrojans.com.

Notes: Mike O'Neill went 0-for-4, snapping his season-high and team-high hitting streak at 13 games...Kevin Couture has allowed only two runs in his last three games (12 innings for a 1.50 ERA)...before Cody Keefer's home run, the previous 1-0 victory in USC baseball history was, ironically, at UCLA on February 22, 2002, when future major leaguer Matt Chico and Jon Williams combined for the shutout after Brian Barre led off the game with a solo home run.
