LOS ANGELES - Logan Odom threw a complete-game three-hitter Sunday as the USC Trojans defeated the No. 6 Arizona State Sun Devils, 6-2, to win the Pac-10 Conference series at Dedeaux Field. It was the first time that USC has won a series against Arizona State since 2004.
Odom allowed two runs (one earned) with three walks and three strikeouts for USC (20-27, 10-11) while Brandon Garcia and Alex Sherrod both hit a two-run homer for the Trojans. During his start, Odom retired 13 consecutive batters until an error with two outs in the top of the ninth.
Arizona State (36-13, 14-7) got an RBI groundout from Riccio Torrez for the 1-0 lead in the third, but the Trojans responded as Alex Glenn tied it in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to right. Matt Newman reached on an error by USC shortstop James Roberts and later scored on Xorge Carrillo's single. USC came back again when Garcia belted his second homer in as many days for the go-ahead 3-2 score in the fourth.
