Spradlin Strikes Out 10 As No. 24/23 USC Sweeps Washington State|

LOS ANGELES - Junior Jack Spradlin (Bonita/Eastlake HS/Southwestern College) struck out a season-high 10 batters Sunday as the No. 24/23 USC Trojans completed a Pac-10 series sweep with a 7-2 victory over the Washington State Cougars.
Spradlin improved to 5-2 on the season after allowing two runs on six hits with two walks.
USC (32-15, 12-6) has now won five straight games, tying the previous season best (April 5-12).
For the third straight day, the Cougars opened the scoring in the first. Jeff Miller led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Jim Murphy. The Trojans took the lead for good with two runs in the first on an RBI single by Jeff Clement and sacrifice fly by Cyle Hankerd.
Shortstop Blake Sharpe (Moorpark/Moorpark HS/L.A. Pierce College) went 3-for-4 with two RBI, including a two-run double in the fifth. Sharpe went 9-for-13 in the three-game series with a home run and seven RBI.
Zach McAngus hit a solo shot, his second of the season, in the fourth for Washington State (20-32, 0-18).
Sophomore closer Paul Koss pitched two no-hit innings to earn his 10th save of the season, placing him sixth all-time on USC's single-season list.
