NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Jason Dabbs singled home Tommy Simis from second base in the bottom of the 11th inning Sunday as the Cal State Northridge Matadors rallied for the 5-4 non conference victory over the USC Trojans to sweep the two-game series. The Matadors (20-29) scored twice in the ninth to send the game into extra innings against the Trojans (23-25).

Brian Slover (3-3) threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for Cal State Northridge for the win, allowing three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Chris Hannick was 2-for-5 for the Matadors while Dabbs' lone hit of the game produced the game-winner.

Hector Rabago and Joe De Pinto led the Trojans with three hits while Grant Green was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Robert Stock threw eight innings for USC, allowing four runs on five hits with six walks and four strikeouts. Daniel Cooper took the loss for the Trojans after allowing a run on three hits in 2 1/3 innings.

The Trojans took the lead with a run in the second after Anthony Vasquez was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on back-to-back wild pitches by CSUN starter Billy Ott. Rabago then singled home Vasquez for the run. Mike O'Neill singled in the Trojan third and later scored on Green's RBI single to left for the 2-0 lead.

Hannick singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and a walk to Justin DeMarco put runners at first and second. Simis sacrificed both runners over and Jeff Pruitt's groundout to second made it a 2-1 USC lead. Hannick singled home Richard Cates in the sixth to tie the game, but Stock came back with a runner at third to strike out DeMarco and Simis to preserve the 2-2 tie.

De Pinto doubled in the seventh and Green later followed with the two-out double to left as USC retook the lead, 3-2. In the USC ninth, De Pinto singled to lead off the inning. He advanced on O'Neill's sacrifice and stole third. Alex Sherrod then laid down a squeeze bunt as De Pinto scored to make it a two-run lead. Stock hit DeMarco in the ninth and a walk to Simis knocked him out of the game. Cooper entered the game and made a good play on pinch-hitter TS Reed's bunt, throwing out DeMarco at third for the first out. C.J. Belanger then singled to plate Simis as Reed advanced to third. Cooper then uncorked a wild pitch to tie the game.

In the top of the 11th, the Trojans again had runners at first and third with one out with De Pinto at third and Sherrod at the plate. The Trojans tried another squeeze bunt, but Slover came off the mound as catcher John Parham applied the tag on De Pinto and threw a strike to first for the inning-ending, 1-2-3 double play.

Northridge used the momentum during its at-bat as Simis singled to center and sacrificed to second by Reed. Belanger was intentionally walked, but Dabbs singled through the hole into left for the game-winner.
