Trojans Drop 4-3 Heartbreaker at Pepperdine|

MALIBU, Calif. - The USC baseball team dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday afternoon at Pepperdine, 4-3.
After taking the lead in the top of the ninth inning, as Omar Cotto Lozada (San Juan, Puerto Rico/The Bonneville School) led off the inning with a single, came around to score after he advanced to second on an error by the pitcher, was sacrificed to third by Garrett Stubbs (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) and came home give the Trojans the 3-2 lead on a sac fly RBI from Jeremy Martinez (Fountain Valley, Calif./Mater Dei HS).
However, the Waves had the last word, scoring two in the bottom of the ninth inning, with Austin Davidson driving in the game-winning run on a single up the middle off reliever Kyle Davis (Garden Grove, Calif./Pacifica HS) to give the Waves the 4-3 victory in nine.
The Trojans had a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, as they got to Waves reliever Jayson Balades. Martinez led off the inning with a double down the left field line. Dante Flores (Norwalk, Calif./St. John Bosco HS) sacrificed him over to third and Timmy Robinson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View HS) came through with a big RBI double to put the Trojans up 1-0. After Robinson stole third and Jake Hernandez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Los Osos HS) walked to put runners on the corners with one out, Blake Lacey (Clovis, Calif./Clovis HS) delivered a sac fly to plate Robinson from third and put the Trojans up 2-0.
The Waves answered in the fifth inning off of starter Brent Wheatley (Villa Park, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), plating two runs of their own to tie things up 2-2 as Brandon Caruso had an RBI fielder's choice and Manny Jefferson drove in his first run of the day.
The Trojans left 11 men on base in the game, as they had base runners in every inning.
The Trojans head back to Dedeaux Field this weekend to host Utah in a three-game Pac-12 series. Game one is set for 6 p.m. PT on Friday, April 11.
