LOS ANGELES - Four players homered as the No. 3 USC baseball team defeated Hawai'i Hilo, 12-3, at Dedeaux Field in a nonconference game on Monday night.

The Trojans improved to 29-8 overall, while the Vulcans fell to 13-26.

Hawai'i Hilo got off to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. With the bases loaded and one out, sophomore SS Davey Meguro and senior CF Adam Cancellieri had back-to-back RBI singles. The next batter, though, hit into a double play to end the rally.

However, the Trojans came back with seven runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good. Junior LF Jason Lane and junior 1B Robb Gorr each hit two-run homers, senior 2B Wes Rachels had a two-RBI single and freshman SS Seth Davidson had a sacrifice fly.

USC scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 11-2. Sophomore DH Eric Munson hit a two-run homer, junior RF Dominic Correa drove in a run on an error and sophomore C Josh Townsend had an RBI single, the first hit of his career.

The Vulcans made it 11-3 in the top of the seventh on senior 1B Anthony Jackson's RBI single.

USC closed out the scoring in the bottom of the eighth as junior C Camilo Gomez slugged a solo home run to left field, the first hit of his career.

The Trojans cleared their bench and used 23 players, including six pitchers. Senior RHP Mike Weibling (2-0) threw two scoreless innings in relief and got the win.

Vulcan senior LHP Russell Ricafort (0-4) went 4 2/3 innings and took the loss.

USC next travels to Arizona State for games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (April 9-11).
