LOS ANGELES - Sophomore first baseman Ricky Oropesa (Rancho Cucamonga) went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI Friday as the USC Trojans evened the Pac-10 Conference series with an 8-2 win over the No. 21 Oregon State Beavers. USC (14-13, 2-3) took advantage of an Oregon State (17-6, 1-1) squad that committed six errors in the game.

Tanner Robles took the loss, falling to 4-3 on the season after giving up three runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 innings with four hits, one walk and six strikeouts.

Joe De Pinto led off the bottom of the first with a single, later advancing to second on a Robles' wild pitch. Oropesa singled to left to give USC the 1-0 lead. The Trojans made it a 3-0 lead with two unearned runs in the fourth. Garret Houts reached on a fielding error by OSU shortstop Carter Bell, followed by Adam Landecker's double. A fielding error by Danny Hayes plated Houts and Mike O'Neill brought home Landecker with a sacrifice fly to left.

Houts singled in the sixth and after a sacrifice from Landecker, catcher Kevin Roundtree roped an RBI single to left as the Trojans took the 4-0 lead.

OSU cut the lead in half with two runs in the seventh. Adalberto Santos hit an RBI double and Bell scored the second run when Roundtree mishandled Oropesa's throw at the plate. The Trojans, however, came back and put the game away with four runs in the bottom half. Oropesa hit his Pac-10 Conference-leading ninth homer of the season with a three-run blast to right center off reliever Tony Bryant.
