    RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Lucas Duda went 3-for-4 with two RBI Tuesday as the No. 25/24 USC Trojans defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders, 8-3, in nonconference action at the Riverside Sports Complex. Matt Cusick, Grant Green and Robert Stock had two hits each as the Trojans improved to 18-12 on the season.

    Sophomore Ryan Cook (Clovis/Clovis HS) earned the win with 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Stock, who started the game at catcher, pitched two-thirds of an inning with a strikeout.

    Carl Uhl went 3-for-5 for the Highlanders (16-10) while Mark Samuelson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

    The Trojans broke the game open with five runs in the second inning. Cusick hit an RBI single to left, followed by Green's two-run triple to right center. Stock and Duda followed with RBI singles as USC took a 6-0 lead.

    USC has the weekend off and resumes play with a Pac-10 series at No. 4 Oregon State (April 5-7) in Corvallis. All three games will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
