LOS ANGELES - Junior All-America first baseman Ricky Oropesa went 3-for-5 with a home run, tying his personal best with five RBI, as the USC Trojans defeated the No. 24 UCLA Bruins, 6-2, in the final game of a Pac-10 Conference series at Dedeaux Field.

Logan Odom pitched another gem for USC (9-15, 1-2) in his second start against UCLA (11-8, 2-1) this season. Odom allowed just one run on two hits in seven innings with three walks and a season-high seven strikeouts.

Freshman J.R. Aguirre flared a fly ball to right in the bottom of the first that Jeff Gelalich was unable to see in the partly cloudy skies, falling for a leadoff double. James Roberts moved Aguirre to third on a sacrifice before Oropesa hit an RBI infield single for the first run. Kevin Roundtree lined a double to right, leading off the USC second and would later score on Brandon Garcia's groundout for a 2-0 score in favor of USC.

With runners at the corners in the third, UCLA left fielder Cody Keefer blooped an RBI single to left for the 2-1 Trojans' lead. USC made it a three-run lead when Oropesa belted a two-run shot to dead center in the bottom of the third. In the seventh, Oropesa capped his day with a two-run, line-drive single over Cody Regis' glove at third base.

The Bruins scored a run in the ninth and loaded the bases against Trojan closer Chad Smith before Smith struck out Tyler Rahmatulla to preserve the win.

USC concludes its 10-game homestand on Tuesday (March 29) with a 3 p.m. game against UC Irvine. The game features a live video webcast, along with Gametracker live stats, on
