LOS ANGELES - Allen Riley went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI as the Pacific Tigers completed a doubleheader sweep with the 7-2 victory over the USC Trojans at Dedeaux Field. Chris Larsen earned his first save on the year with three scoreless innings in relief for the Tigers, who defeated the Trojans by a 10-9 score earlier in the first game of the doubleheader.

Pacific improved to 5-12 overall while USC fell to 8-12.

Jake Hummel (2-2) allowed two runs on five hits in six innings with a walk and six strikeouts. Trojan starter Austin Wood took the loss after surrendering five runs (three earned) on five hits in five innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Daniel Johnston put the Tigers ahead with an RBI single in the second, but Alex Sherrod tied it with a line drive homer to right in the USC half of the inning for his team-leading fourth homer this season. Brett Christopher blooped a double to lead off the third and scored on Riley's single to right.

With two outs in the fifth, Wood walked Christopher and Dustin Torchio before Riley belted a two-run double to right. Riley advanced to third and scored when the cutoff throw by Joe De Pinto got away from Jake Hernandez at the plate and rolled into the Pacific dugout for the 5-1 lead. De Pinto hit an RBI double in the sixth, but the Tigers responded with two more runs in the seventh.

USC loaded the bases in the eighth with two outs, but Larsen got Hernandez to fly out to center for the final out.

The Trojans then continue their 10-game homestand on Tuesday (March 22) against UC Santa Barbara at 3 p.m. before opening Pac-10 Conference play next weekend against UCLA.

Notes: After a slow start at the plate this season, All-American Ricky Oropesa is now batting .338 (26-for-77) with 13 RBI...Chad Smith now has a 1.59 ERA this season with opponents hitting just .154 against him.
