Chapel Hill, N.C. - On a cold and soggy afternoon at Boshamer Stadium Tar Heels starter Kent Emanuel (3-0) allowed only one run while striking out eight in six innings en route to an 11-1 win over the Trojans.

A delayed start due to rain did nothing to cool off Emanuel as he struck out Garret Houts, Adam Landecker and Matt Foat in order to start the game.

North Carolina took a 1-0 lead as Tom Zengel delivered an RBI single through the right side to score Jacob Stallings. They would add two more runs on a bases loaded walk from senior Andrew Triggs and a sac-fly RBI from Chaz Frank to make the lead 3-0. Triggs fell to 2-1 on the season with the loss.

The Trojans threatened in the third inning after loading the bases but Emanuel got sophomore Kevin Swick to tap out to the mound to work out of the jam.

Cody Stubbs stretched the lead in the bottom of the third with a two run blast to right center to make it 5-0 North Carolina.

USC loaded the bases again in the seventh but only managed to plate one run on a single through the middle by Swick. The Trojans stranded 13 runners, 8 in scoring position, on the day.

In the seventh, UNC's Collin Moran launched a 2-run homer to right off junior Corey Carma to give the Tar Heels a 7-1 lead.

North Carolina would tack on four more runs in a turbulent eighth inning on the mound for the Trojans to close out the win.

USC's Kevin Roundtree had three hits on the night while Landecker and Foat also had multi-hit games for Troy.
