Baseball Trounces Long Beach State, 12-3

    The USC baseball team defeated Long Beach State, 12-3, on Tuesday at Blair Field in a game that actually began on Jan. 31 but was halted in the fifth inning due to rain.

    USC led, 6-1, in the top of the sixth on Jan. 31 when the game was stopped. When play resumed on Tuesday, the Trojans added six more runs.

    Overall, the Trojans had 15 hits, led by a 3-for-3, one home run and three-RBI effort by Robb Gorr. Jason Lane was 3-for-4 and Greg Hanoian and Wes Rachels had two hits each.

    Mike Penney (1-1) got the win, throwing six innings and allowing four hits, one run, no walks and striking out one.
