No. 5 Baseball Falls to Texas

    LOS ANGELES - No. 31-ranked Texas scores seven unearned runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat No. 5-ranked USC, 15-7 at Dedeaux Field. USC drops to 3-2 while Texas imroves to 2-2.

    Freshman lefthander Phil Seibel went five innings for the Longhorns and allowed five runs on eight hits to record his first win (1-0).

    USC was led offensively by Sophomore catcher Eric Munson who his 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Junior outfielder Jason Lane was also 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI.

    USC returns to action, weather permitting, on Tuesday (Feb. 10) when it completes a rain-halted game at Long Beach State at 3 p.m. USC has a 6-1 lead in the fifth inning when play resumes.
