2003: Wentworth will be used as a situational pitcher in the bullpen this season.
MIKE GILLESPIE SAYS: "Clayton has been patient and made great improvement with his command. He has a special curveball and can come in to pitch against anybody's best right-handed hitters and give them fits."
2002: Wentworth made 10 appearances in his 2002 sophomore season and did not record a decision with a 16.20 ERA.
ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY: He led St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Tex., to the 2001 NCAA Division II national championship as the staff's No. 1 pitcher...threw a complete game victory in the Division II national championship game, striking out 11 and walking 3 in the 11-3 win against Central Missouri State...went 9-0 with a 1.43 ERA...in 79 1/3 innings, allowed 41 hits, struck out 94 and walked 58 batters with opponents batting .160 against him...made 11 starts in 14 appearances with four complete games and two shutouts.
HIGH SCHOOL: He earned all-district honors in his 2000 senior season at Churchill High in San Antonio, Tex.
