    Successful Summer for USC Baseball Student-Athletes

    Junior catcher Garrett Stubbs leads the way as he won the Cape Cod League title with Cotuit.

    2013/JUNIOR: As a junior in his first season for the Trojans, the southpaw appeared in 11 games, making four starts...On April 12 against then-No.15 Arizona State, in just his second career start for the Trojans, Silva was a part of the first USC one-hitter since 1996...In the game, Silva took the win, throwing six complete innings, allowing only one hit and one walk with four strikeouts in his best outing of the year...Freshman reliever Brent Wheatley threw the final three innings for the combined one-hitter 4-0 victory ...Silva earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors for his one-hit outing...Silva also made starts vs. Stanford, at Utah and at Pepperdine...Other strong outings for the junior included 1.2 innings of hitless ball on Feb. 26 vs. Long Beach State...Also only allowed one hit in 2.0 complete innings of work at rival UCLA on March 10...Finished the year with a 1-2 record and 4.68 ERA...Struck out 16 in 25.0 innings of work.
