    2002: Peavey returns as the starting first baseman as a 2002 senior and will be counted on for a strong season at the plate and to be a clubhouse leader.

    MIKE GILLESPIE SAYS: "Bill, who has been our starting first baseman, is being counted upon to step up the level of his performance. He will be looked upon to produce in the middle of the lineup. He is a player who can be a power hitter and run producer. He is a team leader and conducts his business in a fashion that is positive in the eyes of the other players."

    2001: A big-swinging first baseman, Peavey exploded at the plate in his best season for Troy as a junior in 2001...batted .307 with 7 HR and 48 RBI...started in 63 of 64 games...hit two home runs, including one over the 30-foot fence in center field, on June 9 vs. Georgia at the College World Series...batted .357 (10-for-28) in the Trojans' eight postseason games with two home runs and five RBI...went 6-for-10 (.600) with four runs scored during the Washington State series (May 12-14)...on Sunday (March 25) at Arizona, he hit his first career triple as part of a 6-for-12 (.500) weekend against the Wildcats...hit a home run in all three games of the Washington series...first home run of the season came in timely fashion on Feb. 6 vs. No. 18 Cal State Fullerton when his solo shot tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth (Trojans won 6-5)...also tied the game in the seventh inning on Feb. 18 at UCLA on an RBI single, leading the way for a 5-4 victory in 11 innings.

    2000: Peavey platooned at first base during his 2000 sophomore season...batted .248 with 4 HR and 28 RBI...started in 29 of 51 games...went 5-for-10 in the Oregon State series with two doubles and six RBI...hit a solo home run on May 2 against Santa Clara, the team that features his younger brother, Pat.

    1999: Peavey played in three games, but was granted an additional season as a 1999 redshirt freshman.

    1998: Peavey went 0-for-1 in the only game that he played as a 1998 freshman.

    HIGH SCHOOL: As a 1997 senior at Serra High in San Mateo, Calif., Peavey hit .507 with a team-leading nine home runs, 22 walks and 26 RBI...had a .971 slugging percentage...also led the team defensively, making just four errors in 177 chances (.977)...was named to the 1997 All-Northern California, All-Central Coast Section, All-San Mateo County (for the second year in a row) and All-West Catholic Athletic League (for the second year in a row) first teams...was also a forward on Serra's basketball team.

    PERSONAL: Played for the Santa Barbara Foresters in the summer of 1999...majoring in economics at USC...enjoys fishing in his spare time...lists Will Clark as his favorite player...birthdate is Jan. 16, 1979.
