Vinny Lopez begins his second season as a Baseball Operations Assistant to the baseball program.

Lopez will assist with baseball administration and operations, as well as working with various camps and all managerial duties. He also will work as a hitting/fielding instructor and bullpen catcher for the RDRBI (Rod Dedeaux Research & Baseball Institute). He is currently working on his master's degree in education with an emphasis in athletic administration.

He graduated from Cal Lutheran in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in communications and played baseball at Cal Lutheran after transferring from Westmont College. He finished with a .315 career average with 34 stolen bases, four home runs, 62 RBI and a 1.000 fielding percentage. During his one season at Westmont, he was awarded the Gold Glove award as the team's most outstanding defensive player. At Cal Lutheran, he was awarded the Hard Hat award for the team's hardest worker and the Mr. Clutch award for the most clutch performances.

His coaching experiences includes: working as an assistant with the Hickory Crawdads, a Class A affiliate with the Texas Rangers, an assistant with the Rangers' Instructional League, the hitting coach and third base coach for the Kauai Menehunes of the Hawaii Collegiate League, an assistant coach for the MLB Academy Barons of the California Collegiate and bullpen catcher for West Coast Sports Management.

He played professionally overseas in France and Germany for the Savigny Sur Orge Lions of the French Baseball Federation during the 2008 season.

Lopez went to Temple City (Calif.) High where he graduated in 2004.
