Kalter is a talented two-way player, who should see some action in the outfield when he is not in the Trojans' starting rotation.
Summer
Last summer, Kalter played for the Berkshire Dukes in the New England Collegiate League and was named as the Top Pro Prospect by the league after batting .353 with five home runs, 21 RBI and 15 stolen bases...also named the No. 2 prospect by Baseball America...on the mound, Kalter went 1-1 with a 1.47 ERA (43 IP, 35 H, 7 ER, 12 BB, 34 SO).

He went 7-5 in 14 starts in his 2004 sophomore season with a 4.15 ERA...in 95 1/3 innings, Kalter walked 22 and struck out 78...batted .400 (56-for-140) with six home runs, 17 doubles, three triples, 18 stolen bases and 39 RBI.

He earned all-league honors in his senior season at Western Christian High in Covina, Calif...named team most valuable player in his junior and senior seasons.
