He was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Cathedral High in San Diego, Calif., under coach Gary Remiker...member of back-to-back CIF San Diego Section Division III championship squads...earned All-CIF and all-league second team honors as a senior after batting .388 with two home runs...went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI in the CIF championship game played at Tony Gwynn Stadium on the campus of San Diego State...earned all-state and All-CIF second team honors as a junior after batting .413 with nine home runs...earned San Diego Union-Tribune all-academic honors in his junior and senior years.
