Houts should get considerable playing time in the outfield this season for the Trojans.
2009
In his first full season, Houts made 19 starts in 33 games...batted .232 (13-for-56) with two doubles, a home run, six RBI and three stolen bases...recorded no errors in 45 chances in the outfield...had a season-high two RBI with a double on April 15 at Pepperdine...his second two-hit game of the season came on March 25 in the second game of a doubleheader against Brown...recorded his first collegiate home run on March 7 at Tulane in a 2-for-4 performance...made his first start on Feb. 28 against Western Carolina, where he recorded his first collegiate hit (a single)...made his collegiate debut as a pinch runner, scorring a run on Feb. 21 at Long Beach State.

He played for the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods League...in 54 games, he batted .247 (36-for-146) with six doubles, one triple, one home run, six RBI and 16 stolen bases...had a .322 slugging percentage with a .325 on-base percentage.
High School
He was a two-year varsity letterwinner at Fort Collins (Colo.) High for coach Brad Deal...earned all-state and all-conference first team honors in his senior season...batted .453 with seven home runs and 34 RBI in his senior season...also earned all-conference and all-state honors on the football team, playing as a running back, wide receiver and defensive back...received honorable mention in his junior season after batting .467 with four home runs and 36 RBI...earned academic all-state honors four years...member of the National Honor Society.
