    After two seasons of not pitching, there will be obvious health questions for Bannister. If he stays healthy, he would give the Trojans a strong starter in the rotation as a 2005 junior.

    2004
    Bannister did not pitch in his 2004 redshirt sophomore season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

    2003
    He redshirted as a 2003 sophomore because of a strained ulner collateral ligament in his right elbow and did not make any appearances.

    2002
    Bannister was the team's most pleasant surprise in his 2002 freshman season as a starter and long reliever...made 26 appearances with seven starts...led the team in innings pitched (86.0), strikeouts (76) and opponents' batting average (.245)...his 3.56 ERA was second on the team among regulars...threw six scoreless innings in relief to earn the win on May 31 against BYU in the NCAA First-Round Regional...earned Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors after registering two wins in relief during the UCLA series (May 24-26)...pitched six scoreless innings on four hits, a walk and seven strikeouts on May 24 at UCLA...pitched 6 1/3 innings on April 30 vs. Pepperdine, allowing six hits, one run (unearned), two walks and six strikeouts...earned the win with five scoreless innings on April 7 vs. Oregon State, allowing only three hits...picked up the win on March 29 vs. California with five innings, allowing one run on two hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
