    Trojans Pound Out Another Win Over Bruins

    LOS ANGELES - No. 13 USC pounded out 18 hits -- including a 4-for-5 performance by senior first baseman Greg Walbridge -- en route to an 11-2 victory over No. 2 UCLA Saturday at Dedeaux Field.

    USC, which has won the first two games in the series, is now 36-17 overall and 17-12 in Pac-10 Southern Division play. UCLA drops to 35-13-1 and 14-9.

    Junior right-hander Seth Etherton (8-2), the 1996 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year, went eight innings for the Trojans and limited the Bruins to just one earned run on seven hits and two walks, while striking out eight.

    Junior left-hander Jim Parque (11-2) picked up his second loss in two starts.

    Besides Walbridge, USC was led offensively by Jason Brown, who was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs, and Marc Mirizzi, who was 3-for-4.

    Eric Munson hit his team-leading 11th home run and added 4 RBIs. Robb Gorr also homered for the Trojans, while Troy Glaus hit his 25th home run for UCLA.

    The series concludes tomorrow (April 27) at 1 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
