    No. 4 Stanford Completes Three-Game Sweep

    LOS ANGELES - No. 4 Stanford scored seven runs in the third inning - including three on a home run by catcher John Schaeffer - and went on to defeat No. 7 USC 10-3 Sunday at Dedeaux Field. The Cardinal swept the three-game series with USC (it was the first time USC has been swept at Dedeaux Field since 1993 against Arizona State).

    The Trojans drop to 29-12 (11-10 in Pac-10 Southern Division play) while the Cardinal is 26-8 (13-2).

    The Cardinal was led offensively by Luke Quaccia and John Gall, who had three hits apiece.

    Sophomore left-hander Brent Hoard went seven innings and struck out six to pick up the victory (7-1). Sophomore right-hander Steve Immel took the loss (6-3) for the Trojans, lasting just 2 1/3 innings.
