Ninth-Inning Grand Slam Lifts Arizona State Over USC
LOS ANGELES -- Junior righthander Ryan Bradley hit a ninth-inning grand slam off Trojan ace reliever Jack Krawczyk and pitched the final 3 innings in relief to get the win (2-0) and lead No. 7 Arizona State to a 7-3 victory over No. 3 USC on Saturday at Dedeaux Field. It was the Sun Devils' first win at Dedeaux Field since April 16, 1994 (breaking an ASU 8-game losing streak).
With the score tied 3-3 in the ninth, Arizona State got back to back singles from Chip Gosewisch and Mike Grijalva off Trojan reliever Steve Immel (0-1). After Michael Collins sacrificed the runners over to second and third, Immel intentionally walked Mikel Moreno to load the bases. Krawczyk then replaced Immel and Bradley hit an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for a grand slam.
Bradley struck out 6 Trojans, who were limited to just 3 runs on 6 hits on the day and stranded 11 baserunners (including a bases-loaded first inning).
