USC discus thrower Alexandra Collatz was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team for women's track and field for the 2012 season.

Collatz, who will begin her sophomore year at USC next week, maintains a 3.37 GPA in the classroom and earned second-team All-America status in the discus throw as a freshman. She set the Trojan freshman record in the discus with a throw of 177-11 (54.24m) at the BYU/Boise State Invitational on April 7, 2012. Her mark is second all-time by a Trojan female, trailing only Kate Hutchinson's school-record throw of 189-5 (57.73) in 2006.

Collatz had an outstanding first season at USC, placing sixth in the discus throw at the Pac-12 Championships and reaching the semifinals at the NCAA Championships where she placed 14th and was one of just two freshmen top-15 finishers.

She also took eighth place in the women's discus throw at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain on July 15. Collatz was part of a strong U.S. team which won 20 medals and earned an all-time record 188 points at the World Junior Championships.
