Hall made easy work of the field in the 100m HH finals, winning with a time of 13.20 into a strong -1.7 wind to take the title. Maribel Vanesa Caicedo of Ecuador was second with a time of 13.45. Hall reached the finals earlier in the day by winning her heat and posting the fastest qualifying time of 13.19 (+0.7). Hall had a huge first season at USC, setting the school freshman and world junior record of 12.74 in finishing third at the NCAA Championships on June 13. She also won the Pac-12 title and USATF Junior title in the event and won the MSPF 60m indoor hurdles title and set the USC freshman 60m HH record.
Ellis took third in a tight women’s 400m final, finishing with a time of 52.81. Only .26 seconds separated the three medalists, as Kendra Clarke of Canada won the gold with a time of 52.55 and Sada Williams of Barbados took silver with a time of 52.75. Ellis began the day for the Trojans by taking fourth in her 400m prelim heat and advancing seventh on time to the finals at 53.90. Ellis was also a USATF Junior titlist in the 400m, placed fifth at the Pac-12 Championships and reached the NCAA semifinals in the event. She also established a USC freshman record in the 400m race and clocked a PR of 52.32 in winning the USA Junior title on June 27. Ellis is expected to be part of USA’s 4x400m relay team on Aug. 2.
