Collatz Places 8th At IAAF World Junior Championships|

Freshman Alexandra Collatz took eighth place in the women's discus throw at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain today (July 15). Collatz was part of a strong U.S. team which won 20 medals and earned an all-time record 188 points at the World Junior Championships.
Collatz had a best throw of 161-8 (49.28m) in her fourth throw today to finish eighth. Collatz advanced to today's rounds with the sixth-farthest throw of 172-5 (52.55m) on Friday.
Collatz had an outstanding first season at USC, placing sixth at the Pac-12 Championships and reaching the semifinals at the NCAA Championships where she placed 14th and was one of just two freshmen top-15 finishers. She also had the second-farthest discus throw in school history of 177-11 (54.24m) on April 7.
