USC's Joey Hughes, Cooper Thompson and Reggie Wyatt have been selected to be part of the U.S. Under-23 track and field team which will compete at the 2010 NACAC U23 Meet at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla. from July 9-11.
The sophomore Hughes ranks seventh on USC's all-time 400m dash list with a time of 45.15 and this year placed third in the event at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors. Hughes was also the 2010 Pac-10 champion in the 400m dash.
Thompson is a redshirt sophomore who in his first season of throwing the javelin at USC posted the second-farthest throw in school history of 253-3. That effort came at the Pac-10 Championships where he placed second, missing a title by two centimeters.
The freshman Wyatt ranks eighth all-time at USC in the 400m intermediate hurdles with a PR of 49.46. He placed eighth at the NCAA Championships in the 400m IH to earn All-America honors. Both he and Hughes also earned All-America honors as part of USC's 4x400m relay team. Both Wyatt and Hughes will be available for use in the relay pools.
