Collatz Named To Academic All-America Third Team|

USC junior discus thrower Alexandra Collatz was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team for her combined performances athletically and in the classroom, it was announce today (June 26).
The discus All-American Collatz has a 3.52 GPA in Cognitive Science. The junior won the Pac-12 discus throw title with a mark of 184-3 (56.17m) to become the first Trojan woman to win the conference title. Collatz went on to place eighth in the discus throw at the 2014 NCAA Track & Field Championships and become the first Trojan female to earn All-America status twice in the event as she placed fifth in 2013.
Collatz had a PR of 187-6 (57.15m) to win at the CS Los Angeles Invitational on March 8 and better her second-place standing on USC's all-time discus throw list. She is now less than two feet behind the school record of 189-5 set by Kate Hutchinson in 2006.
Collatz is one of 18 qualified athletes competing in the discus throw at the USA Track & Field Championships being held in Sacramento, Calif. on June 29.
