    Collatz Named To Academic All-District Team

    Alexandra Collatz was named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District VIII team announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) today (May 22). Collatz advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

    The senior Collatz is finishing up a degree in Cognitive Sciences with a business minor at USC. She has a 3.51 GPA and has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team for the second straight season, earning third-team Academic All-America honors in 2014. She also has earned two Pac-12 and USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in her career.

    Collatz placed fourth in the women's discus throw with a mark of 179-11 (54.84m) at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships on May 17. She also took eighth in the hammer throw with a best mark that same day of 183-6 (55.94m).

    Collatz ranks second on USC's all-time discus throw list with a personal best of 189-8 (57.82) set at the Cal State L.A. Twilight Meet on April 16 this season. The senior from Bakersfield, Calif. ranks seventh nationally in the discus throw and is set to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Austin, Texas from May 28-30. She is a two-time first-team discus throw All-American, finishing fifth in 2013 and eighth in 2014.
