The USC men's (No. 8) and women's (NR) track and field teams will be competing this week at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. from April 18-20 and at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Meet on April 18.

JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE...NELLUM IS BACK! - USC redshirt senior Bryshon Nellum was cleared for competition prior to the Florida Relays and ran his first 400m race on April 5. The results were a collegiate-leading time of 45.54 to win the second heat with the fastest time of all pros and collegians at the meet. Nellum captured the 2012 Pac-12 400m title last season, then went on to claim a silver medal in the 4x400m relay for Team USA at the London Olympics. He also was the top American finisher at the London Games in the open 400m, placing ninth, one spot outside of reaching the finals. Nellum set a PR of 44.80 last year at the Olympic Trials and that time ranks fourth all-time by a Trojan.

BROWN EARNS PAC-12 WEEKLY HONOR - Junior Aaron Brown was named the Pac-12 Male Track Athlete of the Week for April 1-7. In his first official races of the season, Brown won the 100m dash at the Florida Relays with a wind-aided time of 10.15 (+2.1) and placing second in the 200m dash with a time of 20.64. His 100m time was at the time the third-fastest by a collegian in 2013, .02 seconds off the lead and would have been a PR (10.18) if not for the slight wind overage. Brown had a strong sophomore season at USC which culminated with him earning a spot on the Canadian Olympic team and taking ninth place in the men's 200m dash at the London Olympics. It was in the Olympic semifinals on Aug. 8, 2012 that he established his 200m PR of 20.42 which moved him into eighth place on USC's all-time list. Last season Brown set his wind-legal 100m PR of 10.18 in winning the Pac-12 title to move into seventh place on USC's all-time list. He also took second in the 200m dash at the conference meet with a time of 20.55. Brown also posted an amazing winning wind-aided time of 10.09 at the Texas Relays.

COLLATZ CONTINUES STRONG START - Discus thrower Alexandra Collatz wasted no time in putting her name in the USC record books last season when she established the USC freshman discus throw record in her first meet with a throw of 176-5 and then bettered it last April with a mark of 177-11 (54.24m). On March 29 this season at the Cal-Nevada Championships, Collatz set her collegiate PR in winning the discus throw competition with a mark of 178-6 (54.42m) to better her second-place standing on USC's all-time list. She has also won at the Trojan Invitational on March 23 with a throw of 176-4 (53.77m). In the women's discus throw Invite at the Florida Relays, Collatz had the top mark by a college athlete and second overall at 174-2 (53.09m). Collatz also established a PR in the hammer throw with a mark of 174-2 (53.10m) on March 15.

CONATSER QUICKLY ENTERS USC TOP 10 -- Junior Remy Conatser won the hammer throw at the Trojan Invitational on March 22 with a mark of 219-4 (66.85m) to move into 10th on USC's all-time list in the event. That mark is also the fourth-farthest by a collegian this season. Conatser comes to USC after two seasons at Saddleback College where he set the American junior college/community college record with a throw 215-9 at the 2012 Ben Brown Invitational. He then bettered that mark with a throw of 217-5 (66.26m) to win the Tiny Lister Invitational on April 6, 2012. He did not even learn to throw the hammer until the 2011 season and played water polo and volleyball in high school at Capistrano Valley.

    USC RANKING AMONG THE BEST -- There are currently 15 top 25 marks posted by Trojan athletes this season: Men: Aaron Brown (100m - T-5th, 200m - 5th), Bryshon Nellum (400m - 1st), Myles Andrews (800m - 15th), Aleec Harris (110m HH - 20th), Reggie Wyatt (400m IH - 3rd), Remington Conatser (Hammer Throw - 7th), Viktor Fajoyomi (Decathon - 19th) and 4x100m (T-20th).
