    USC WIns 10 Events At The Battle On The Bayou

    Kendall Ellis ran the second-fastest women's 400m time in school history and Amalie Iuel and Anna Cockrell posted the third and fourth-fastest USC 400m hurdles times ever to help lead the Trojans to 10 event wins at the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. today (April 8).

    • One of the many highlights to the meet for the Trojans had to be the 1-2 finish in the women's 400m hurdles by Amalie Iuel and Anna Cockrell. Iuel won with a PR of 55.38 which moved her into third place all alone on USC's all-time list in the event and broke her Norwegian record. Anna Cockrell, in her first 400m hurdles race as a Trojan, had a time of 55.51 to move into fourth on USC's all-time list and set the school freshman record. Iuel and Cockrell's times are also the NCAA leaders entering action this weekend.

    Kendall Ellis won the women's 400m dash with a PR of 50.98. That time is the current collegiate leader and moves her to second on USC's all-time list. Cameron Pettigrew was second in the 400m with a PR of 52.11 which moves her into eighth place on USC's all-time list. Also in the W-400m, Kyra Constantine finished fourth with a season-best time of 53.18 and Kayla Richardson placed ninth with a PR of 54.06.

    Ricky Morgan Jr. won the men's 400m dash with a time of 46.17 which ranks sixth on the NCAA descending order list.

    • USC began the day with Matthew Katnik and Nick Ponzio competing in the men's discus throw. Katnik placed fifth by landing a PR in each of his final three throws, the last going for 162-8 (49.58m). Ponzio took seventh with his only legal throw of 146-11 (44.78m) coming in his fifth attempt.

    • Katnik then came back to win the men's shot put with a best mark of 61-5.00 (18.72m) and Ponzio placed third with a best throw of 60-2.00 (18.34m).

    • Marquis Morris won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.84 (+2.0).

    Dior Hall placed second in the women's 100m hurdles with a season-best wind-legal time of 13.12 (+0.3). Anna Cockrell had a season-best time of 13.18 (+0.3) to place third in the 100m hurdles and move to ninth on USC's all-time list. In the second heat of the hurdles, Lyndsey Lopes had a PR of 14.04 (+0.3) and Alexa Harmon-Thomas a time of 14.84 (+0.3).

    Brittany Mann placed fifth in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 176-10 (53.90m) and Tanya Sapa placed seventh with a best throw of 169-2 (51.56m).

    • Mann then won the women's shot put with a mark of 52-3.75 (15.94m) and Sapa placed fourth at 50-00.00 (15.24m).

    Randall Cunningham made quick work of the men's high jump field, not entering until 6-11.50 (2.12m) and clearing it and 7-1.00 (2.16m) in his first tries to win. He passed at 7-2.25 and moved the bar to 7-6.50 (2.30m), but was unable to clear that height.

    Eric Sloan won the men's long jump with a leap of 25-4.50/7.73m (+1.2). Dominic Smallwood placed fifth with a best jump of 24-00.25/7.32m (+0.3) and Jadon Joyner took 12th with a jump of 21-8.00/6.60m (+1.2).

    Robert Ford ran his first 800m race of the season and won with a time of 1:50.41. Also in the 800m, Alex Rohani was third with a big PR of 1:51.73, Joshua Zavala was fifth with a PR of 1:54.67, Mitchell Cameron was 11th with a time of 1:56.01 and Matthew Myrtue was 12th with a time of 1:56.46.

    Mikaela Smith took sixth in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:10.23, followed by Lorea Ibarzabal in seventh at 2:10.74.

    Christian Sourapas had the best time in the men's 100m dash among collegians with a PR of 10.66 (-1.1), while Alex Barnum was sixth at 10.86 (-0.7) and Jadon Joyner was was 11th with a time of 11.18 (-1.1).

    • In the women's 100m dash, Destinee Brown was fourth with a time of 11.59 (+2.0), Zaria Francis was sixth with a season-best time of 11.64 (+2.0) and Margaux Jones was 10th at 12.19 (+1.0).

    Chloe Berry placed third in the women's 1500m race with a PR of 4:36.53. Vivian Grimes placed seventh in the 1500m with a time of 4:41.28, Amber Gore eighth with a PR of 4:45.48 and Madison Ricks ninth with a time of 4:46.21.

    Margaux Jones took fourth in the women's long jump, despite missing a few rounds due to running in the 100m, with a best jump of 20-00.25/6.10m (+1.0). Lyndsey Lopes finished seventh at 18-4.50/5.60m (+0.2), Alexa Harmon-Thomas was eighth at 18-2.50 (-0.2) and Madisen Richards was 10th at 17-5.25/5.31m (-1.2).

    • David Sellens placed fourth in the men's hammer throw by launching PRs in his fourth and fifth throws. First he had a mark of 188-4 and then followed it up with 196-4 (59.85m). Jason Kim placed eighth with a PR of 148-9 (45.35m).

    • In the women's 200m dash, Destinee Brown was fifth with a season-best time of 23.73 (-1.0), Kayla Richardson was seventh with a season-best time of 23.76 (+0.4), Dior Hall was 10th with a time of 24.21 (-1.0), Kyra Constantine was 12th with a time of 24.38 (+0.4) and Lyndsey Lopes was 16th with a wind-aided season best of 24.88 (+2.8w).

    • Among collegians in the men's 200m dash, Christian Sourapas was third with a wind-aided PR of 21.11 (+2.1w), T.J. Brock was sixth with a time of 21.37 (2.1w), Alex Barnum was 10th with a time of 21.83 (+0.8) and Ricky Morgan Jr. was 14th with a time of 23.27 (+2.1w).

    Lyndsey Lopes took third in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 126-9 (38.63m), just .01 meters of her PR. Alexa Harmon-Thomas took fourth in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of103-6 (31.54m).

    • The women's 4x400m relay of Kayla Richardson, Mikaela Smith, Chloe Berry and Lorea Ibarzabal closed out the meet with a time of 3:45.94, fifth overall.
