BROWN POISED FOR SPECTACULAR SENIOR SEASON - Senior All-American sprinter Aaron Brown has established himself as one of the top sprinters in the country and is coming off an outstanding indoor season. He now has earned four first-team All-America honors and six All-America selections overall. Brown set the USC indoor records in both the 60m (6.60) and 200m (20.55) this indoor season. Last season Brown placed fifth in both the 100m and 200m dashes at the NCAA Championships. He moved into third on USC's all-time 100m dash list when he ran 10.05 in the NCAA semifinals. CONATSER NOT SETTLING FOR SECOND - USC senior hammer thrower Remington Conatser placed second at the 2013 NCAA Championships with a then-PR of 224-1 (68.30m) which was the eighth-farthest throw all-time by a Trojan, but seems to have elevated his game. In his first meet this season, he threw 217-10 to win at the Rossi Relays. His next meet was even more impressive as he PR'd by more than six feet to win at the CS Los Angeles Invitational with a throw of 230-4 (70.21m) to take the collegiate lead and move into fourth-place on USC's all-time list. Apparently he was just warming up as he won the Trojan Invitational hammer throw competition on March 21 with a PR of 238-8 (72.76m) to move into fourth place on USC's all-time list and seventh on the Pac-12 all-time list. Conatser did not even learn to throw the hammer until the 2011 season and played water polo and volleyball in high school at Capistrano Valley.
COLLATZ CONTINUES GREAT START TO SEASON - All-American junior discus thrower Alexandra Collatz began the 2014 season by winning both the hammer throw and discus throw competitions at the Rossi Relays on Feb. 22. She also placed second in the hammer throw with a PR of 181-5 (55.29). Collatz then bettered her hammer throw PR with a mark of 183-3 (55.85m) in finishing fourth at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 14. Another week, another PR for Collatz in the hammer as she tossed the "ol' ball and chain" 185-8 (56.60m) to place fifth at the Trojan Invitational on March 21. She currently ranks third in the discus and 43rd in the hammer throw among college females.
