It's a big weekend for the USC Track & Field program as it will compete at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash. on Feb. 27-28 and open the outdoor season at the 19th Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif. on Feb. 28.

The No. 23 USC men's team will be competing in the MPSF conference championship for the first time, while the No. 12 women's team will be attempting to make it back-to-back titles in just the second season of competing in the conference. Another important part of the weekend is the opportunity for several of the Trojans to move up in the national descending order list and to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 13-14. The top 16 individuals and the top 12 relay teams on the descending order list will advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships. Currently USC has seven athletes inside the top 16 of an event and another seven and a relay team which are in the top 25.

The MPSF Indoor Championships will feature all of the Pac-12 schools for the first time, with the men's teams totaling 14 and the women's 19. The USC women's team took home the crown last season by scoring 106 points, the most by any women's or men's team at the competition.

USC is sending a men's team of Myles Andrews, Randall Cunningham, Andre De Grasse, Robert Ford, Adoree' Jackson, Michael Krone, BeeJay Lee, David Manahan, Conor McCullough, Ricky Morgan, Marquis Morris, Nick Ponzio, Davonte Stewart, Just'N Thymes and Allen Williams. The Trojan women competing at MPSFs are Destinee Brown, Gabriella Cantrell, Erica Capellino, Melia Cox, Kendall Ellis, Alexis Faulknor, Tynia Gaither, Dior Hall, Deanna Hill, Amalie Iuel, Vanessa Jones, Reika Kijima, Tera Novy, Cameron Pettigrew, Madisen Richards, Tanya Sapa, Jaide Stepter and Ky Westbrook. Last season the USC women's team competed in just eight events at the conference meet and won five of them.

The Trojans will kick off the outdoor season this Saturday at the Rossi Relays with 22 student-athletes scheduled to compete. Eight of USC's athletes will be making their USC outdoor track and field debuts, including Amber Bragdon, Erika Peyton, Gabriel Morin, Mikey Rozvar, Clayton Rule, David Sellens, Dominic Smallwood and Jordon Wallin. Among the outdoor highlights will be All-American discus thrower Alexandra Collatz competing, as well as sprinter Bryan Mercado and cross country runners Katerina Berdousi and Kira Soderstrom competing in the 3000m race and as part of USC distance medley team. Both runners had impressive cross country seasons and are looking to carry that momentum into the track and field season.
