    USC Track & Field Opens The Season Saturday At the Rossi Relays

    The USC track and field team will begin the 2012 outdoor season this Saturday (Feb. 25) at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif. Many of the Trojans' top runners will be in action as the team begins the season which will culminate at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Ia. from June 6-9. The Trojans have returned many of their 2011 stars and have added strong recruiting classes to the women's team which placed sixth and the men's team which tied for 12th at the 2011 NCAA Championships.

    Returning first-team All-Americans on the squad are senior captain Joey Hughes (400m), sophomore Josh Mance (400m), sophomore Jessica Davis (200m, 4x100m), sophomore Loudia Laarman (4x100m), senior captain Dalilah Muhammad (400m IH), sophomore Jenny Ozorai (hammer throw), senior Aareon Payne (200m, 4x100m) and sophomore Jenna Puterbaugh (4x100m). In all, USC had 22 athletes earn first, second or honorable mention All-America status at the NCAA Championships in 2011.

    Among the Trojans expected to be competing in outdoor track and field for the first time for USC are prized recruits Sam Barkley, Jovante Slater, Davonte Stewart, Allen Willaims, Alexandra Collatz, Melia Cox, Vanessa Jones and Akawkaw Ndipagbor, as well as football players Marqise Lee and Nickell Robey.
