    Five Incoming USC Freshman Reach USATF Junior Championship Finals

    Five of USC's incoming freshman on the track and field team reached the finals at the 2014 USATF Junior Championships held in Eugene, Ore. from July 5-6, led by Dior Hall who placed second in the 100m hurdles. Hall qualified for the USA team which will compete at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene from July 22-27.

    Hall (George Washington HS, Denver, Colo.) placed second in the women's 100m HH final with a time of 13.00 (+2.0) in Sunday's final. She placed second to Kendell Williams (12.87) who was the 2014 NCAA heptathlon champion. Hall reached the finals with the second-fastest time of 13.17 (+2.6) in the semifinals on Saturday.

    Ky Westbrook (Chandler HS, Chandler, Ariz.) finished fourth in the women's 100m final by running a time of 11.43 (+0.9) on Saturday. In the prelims earlier in the day she posted a time of 11.46 (+1.1).

    Ricky Morgan (Forest Park HS, Woodbridge, Va.) had a time of 46.71 in the men's 400m final to place fifth Sunday. He posted a time of 47.05 in the preliminary round on Saturday.

    Also placing fifth was Robert Ford (Claudia Taylor Johnson HS, San Antonio, Texas) in the men's 800m final with a time of 1:50.04 on Saturday. He advanced to the final with a time of 1:50.26 in the semifinals.

    Marquis Morris (De La Salle HS, Concord, Calif.) took sixth in the men's 110m HH finals with a time of 13.74 (+1.7) on Sunday. On Saturday he advanced out of the preliminary rounds with a time of 13.73 (+3.4w).

    Gabriella Cantrell (San Leandro HS, San Leandro, Calif.) reached the finals in the women's 200m dash Sunday, but was disqualified in the race. Earlier in the day she advanced to the finals with final qualifying time of 24.45 (+1.2).

    Jerayah Davis (Kelly Walsh HS, Casper, Wy.) placed 11th in the women's long jump with a best leap of 19-2.00/5.84m (+2.4w) in her first attempt on Sunday. She had a foul in her second attempt and a jump of 18-3.75/5.58 (+2.3w) in her final attempt.

     

     

    Also on Saturday, 2014 freshman Chase Peterson placed 17th in the men's 400m IH with a time of 55.37.
