Friday, May 31st Results (Day Three)-the meet was postponed for over an hour
because of lightening/thunder and rain.
Team Standings: Women-(After 12 events) 1. UCLA 44, 2. South Carolina 40, 3. Florida 24, 4. USC 19, 5. (tie) Washington State, North Carolina State and Nebraska 16, 8. Stanford 15, 9. (tie) Kansas State and Colorado 13.
Men-(After 10 events) 1. LSU 39, 2. (tie) South Carolina and Florida 19 4. (tie) Texas and Tennessee (18). 6. Georgia 15, 7. Eastern Michigan 14, 8. UTEP 12, 9. (tie) Auburn and Penn 11, 11. (tied with several teams) USC 10, 22. (tie) UCLA 6.
USC WOMEN
With one day of the 2002 NCAA Championships to go, the Women of Troy are fourth with 19 points. However, USC has plenty of potential points on tap for Saturday. The Women of Troy will compete two athletes in the 100m, two in the 200m, two in the shot put, one in the 100m hurdles, one in the triple jump and will also run in the 4 x 400m relay. However, South Carolina and UCLA also have plenty of potential points available to add to their current totals. To successfully defend its NCAA title, USC will need some come-through performances on Saturday, plus a few mis-steps from both South Carolina and UCLA.
Field Finals
Discus-Senior Cynthia Ademiluyi-the USC record holder in the discus-finished 18th in this event with a throw of 156-11.
Track Finals
4 x 100m relay-The Women of Troy relay squad of Angela Williams, Disia Page,
Natasha Neal and Kinshasa Davis scored six team points by finishing third in
a time of 43.80. It's the fourth consecutive top-three finish for USC in
the sprint relay.

800m-Senior Aleksandra Deren earned All-American honors and scored two points for USC by finishing seventh in the 800m in a time of 2:06.35. It's the fifth consecutive year that a Women of Troy runner has scored in the 800m at the NCAAs.
Track Prelims
100m-Angela Williams set the table for her fourth 100m title by advancing to Saturday's final in a time of 11.41, just behind teammate Natasha Mayers who won her heat with the day's fastest time (11.28).
100m Hurdles-Senior Natasha Neal ran 13.26 to place fourth in heat one and advance to the finals of the 100m hurdles on Saturday. If she scores in the final, she will become the first Women of Troy athlete to score in the 100m hurdles at the NCAAs since Sau Ying Chan in 1995.
USC MEN
Field Finals
Triple Jump-Junior Julien Kapek, who had the nation's longest jump coming into the meet, took third with a mark of 54-4 ¾, earning Troy's 14th triple jump All-American honor in the process. He is the highest USC finisher in the triple jump since Tom Cochee placed second in 1976.
Pole Vault-Senior David Grijalva tied for 11th with a height of 16-10 ¾.
Decathlon Long Jump-Senior Russell Silvers jumped 22-4 ½ to score 771 decathlon points in the long jump.
Decathlon Shot Put-Silvers threw 40-10 ½ to score 634 decathlon points.
Decathlon High Jump-Silvers no-heighted in the high jump and did not score any decathlon points in this event.
Track Finals
4 x 100m relay-USC's relay squad of Darrell Rideaux, Sultan McCullough, Wes Felix and Kareem Kelly placed fifth in a season-best time of 39.27.
Decathlon 100m-Silvers ran 10.84 (wind-aided) in the 100m to score 897 decathlon points.
Decathlon 400m-Silvers withdrew from the decathlon and did not compete in this event. He finished with 2,302 points.
Track Prelims
110m HH-Junior Ryan Wilson, who finished third in this event at last year's NCAAs, advanced to Saturday's finals by running 13.74 to finish third in heat one.
