Field Finals
Javelin-Sophomore Inga Stasiulionyte, the Pac-10 record holder and last year's NCAA champion in this event, threw 177-0 to finish second to Purdue's Serene Ross, who broke the American record with a throw of 195-8. Stasiulionyte scored eight points for the Women of Troy and now has scored 18 points in her career at the NCAA meet.
Long Jump-Senior Tatyana Obukhova jumped 19-10 ¾ to place 14th in the long jump. Obukhova will compete in the triple jump on Saturday, in which she took third at last year's NCAAs.
Track Prelims
100m Hurdles-Senior Natasha Neal advanced to Friday's 100m hurdles semifinals by running a season-legal-best 13.30 to finish third in heat two of the preliminaries of this event.
400m-Junior Nakiya Johnson ran 52.60 in heat two and did not advance to the finals of the 400m.
100m-Angela Williams completed the first step in her quest for an unprecedented fourth 100m title, clocking 11.39 to win heat two and advance to Friday's semifinals. Her teammate Natasha Mayers also advanced, winning the third heat in a time of 11.36.
Angela Williams: "I felt really relaxed. I was just running to win the race and make it to the next round. I wanted to run a smart race. I'm working on the last part of my race, which is going to be very important for the final. That's going to make or break whether I win the championship this year."
Natasha Mayers: "I was really concentrating on making it through this heat.
I feel really good. I love the weather and hopefully I will be able to run
a
faster time in the final."

4 x 400m relay-USC's relay squad of Natasha Neal, Kinshasa Davis, Aleksandra Pieluzek and Nakiya Johnson ran a season-best 3:31.86 (sixth on the all-time USC chart) to finish second in heat two and advance to Saturday's final.

110m HH-Junior Ryan Wilson, who finished third in this event at last year's NCAA meet, won heat three in a time of 13.74 to advance to Friday's semifinals of the 110m HH.
