Pullman, Wash. - Senior Russell Silvers and junior Shelton Davis each recorded personal bests in the decathlon on Sunday as the USC men's track team got off to a good start at the 2002 Pac-10 Championships with 14 points in the multi events contest held at Moorberry Track.

Silvers finished second with an NCAA-provisional 7,254 points, fifth on the all-time USC decathlon chart. It's the fourth time in his career that Silvers has scored points in the decathlon at the conference meet (he was fifth as a freshman, eighth as a sophomore and fifth as a junior).

Davis finished fourth with a score of 7,122, eighth on the all-time USC decathlon list. Another senior, Anthony Agbasi, took eighth with a score of 6,723.

Senior Ryan Hendren, competing with an injury, finished 11th with a score of 6,006.

On the women's side, junior Spring Harris scored 4,790 points to place seventh in the heptathlon, giving the Women of Troy two points. Senior Chanel Young was 10th with 3,797 points.

The rest of the Trojan track and field teams will compete at the Pac-10 Championships in Pullman on May 18-19.
