Pullman, Wash. - Senior Russell Silvers scored 3,832 points on Saturday to lead all decathletes after five events of the 2002 Pac-10 Multi-Events Championships held at Moorberry Track.

Silvers, whose career best is 7,151 points, won the 100-meter dash in 11.11 seconds and the 400-meter dash in 48.83 to stake himself out to a 37 point lead over Billy Pappas of Oregon (3,795).

Three other seniors are in the mix for the Trojans: Shelton Davis, who is third with 3,742 points, Anthony Agbasi, who is sixth with 3,634 points and Tell Hendren, who is 11th with 3,126 points.

Sunday's decathlon events are the 110-meter hurdles, the discus throw, the pole vault, the javelin throw and the 1500-meter run.

For the Women of Troy in the heptathlon, junior Spring Harris is in seventh with 2,984 points and senior Chanel Young is 10th with 2,378 points.

The heptathlon concludes on Sunday with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run.

The rest of the USC team will travel to Pullman on Friday to take part in the 2002 Pac-10 Track and Field Championships held on May 18-19.
