Women's Pole Vaulters And Distance Runners Shine At Triton Invitational

Sophomore Felicia Horvath and senior Thea Weiss tied for sixth in the women's pole vault and several USC women set PRs in the middle distance races during the final day of the Triton Invitational today (April 26).
Horvath and Weiss both cleared 12-1.50/3.70m and bowed out at the next height with three misses at 12-7.50 (3.85m). For Horvath it was her best collegiate jump and moved her into an eighth-place tie on USC's all-time list. Weiss is already on the list ranking sixth with a career-best pole vault of 12-4.50 (3.77m). Horvath has a PR of 13-3.50 (4.05m) set when the Hungarian was in high school.
Sophomore Katerina Berdousi placed sixth in the women's 1500m race with a season-best time of 4:35.49. Junior Kira Soderstrom finished ninth in the competition with a time of 4:39.60, her best since the 2012 season, while sophomore Jenna Tong placed 10th with a PR of 4:41.71. Also, senior Lindsay Enright finished 18th (4:50.69), redshirt freshman Lauren Grego 29th (4:55.51) and sophomore Alyssa Reardon 48th (PR of 5:09.08).
In the women's 800m race, sophomore Natasha Strickland finished 12th with a time of 2:16.92, Enright was 16th (2:17.88), Tong tied for 19th (PR of 2:18.63) with Berdousi, Grego was 26th (2:22.39), Soderstrom was 29th (2:23.83) and Reardon was 37th (2:32.36).
Redshirt sophomore Malia Cravens competed in the women's high jump and cleared 5-2.25 (1.58m) to finish in 11th place.
For the men's squad, junior Myles Andrews placed fifth in the 800m race with a time of 1:51.89. Sophomores Andreas Spanos (34th, 2:01.57) and Will Robinson (51st, 2:09.06) also competed in the 800m race.
Redshirt sophomore Bryan Jordan had a time of 3:59.58 to finish 11th in the men's 1500m race, with Robinson placing 50th with a time of 4:28.91. In the men's high jump, sophomore Errin Baynes matched his season best with a clearance of 6-7.00 (2.01m) and senior Doug Bogie tied for 11th with a jump of 6-3.25 (1.91m).
Former Trojan All-American steeplechaser Julia Budniak (2004) won the women's 5000m race with a time of 17:22.09.
