    Trojans Get Things Underway At Texas Relays

    Jenny Ozorai, Marissa Minderler and Jade Niemeyer finished second-fourth in the women's hammer throw and Reggie Wyatt advanced to the finals in the men's 400m IH in the first day of action (March 29) for the Trojans at the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

    The redshirt sophomore Ozorai placed second in the hammer throw with a best throw of 218-00 (66.44m). She led through the first four rounds, but UNLV senior Amanda Bingson took the lead in the fifth round with the winning throw of 220-7. Bingson's mark moves her into third on the NCAA descending order list, splitting the Trojans' Ozorai and Minderler who rank No. 2 and No. 4 respectively on the NCAA women's hammer throw list. Minderler, a redshirt senior, placed third today with a throw of 207-1 (63.11m).

    The redshirt senior Niemeyer placed fourth with a throw of 201-2 (61.31m), exactly tying her PR set on March 9 which moved her into ninth on USC's all-time list. Redshirt sophomore Lauren Chambers, who ranks sixth on the Trojans' all-time list, placed ninth today with a best mark of 185-10 (56.64m).

    Junior Reggie Wyatt won his 400m IH heat with a time of 51.00, the second-best time on the day and moving him into Saturday's finals. Wyatt owns the current fastest time in the country of 49.95 set last weekend at the Trojan Invitational. Senior Duane Walker also ran in teh 400m IH and had a time of 55.24 and did not advance to the finals.
