The USC track and field team got a final tune-up before hosting the Trojan Invitational next week by competing at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. on March 14-15. Leading the way for the Trojans were Jovonte Slater who won the men's 100m dash, Amalie Iuel who won the women's 400m IH and Lauren Chambers who took second in the women's hammer throw with the top collegiate mark.

The redshirt sophomore Slater won the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.75, while junior Bryan Mercado placed fourth with a time of 10.90 and Terence Abram, competing unattached, ran 10.97 to finish seventh. The trio also ran in the 200m race with Slater posting his collegiate-best of 21.26 to place fifth, Mercado placing 11th with a time of 21.89 and Abrams finishing 15th with a time of 22.03.

The freshman Iuel won her first collegiate women's 400m IH race with a PR of 60.96. That time is better than any other collegiate female had run in the first two weeks of the outdoor season.

The redshirt senior Chambers had the top throw by a collegiate hammer thrower and finished second overall with a mark of 201-6 (61.43m). It was her farthest throw since her freshman campaign when she launched a throw of 206-5 which ranks seventh on USC's all-time list. It also ranks as the second-farthest throw by a college athlete early in the outdoor season. Junior Alexandra Collatz once again bettered her PR in the event with a throw of 183-3 (55.85m) to finish fourth. Freshman Tanya Sapa placed eighth with a throw of 168-11 (51.49m). Sophomore Tera Novy did not land a legal mark.
