    Aaron Brown won the men's 200m race at the Don Kirby Indoor Meet in Albuquerque, N.M. today with a world-leading time and Alexis Faulknor placed third in the long jump, Jessica Davis fourth in the 60m, Lauren Blackburn fifth in the 60m hurdles and Akawkaw Ndipagbor seventh in the 400m race during first-day action at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Today (Feb. 14).

    Brown, a senior, blazed to a PR and world-leading time of 20.53 in the first of 17 sections of the men's 200m race at Albuquerque. That time also improved his USC indoor record in the event and set a Canadian indoor record. Jermaine Brown of Triple Crown was second with a time of 20.59 posted in the sixth heat. The next closest time was 20.81. Junior Davonte Stewart placed sixth with a PR of 21.03 which is tied for 15th among college runners this season. Junior Bryan Mercado also posted a PR with a time of 21.98, good for 35th.

    Also at the Don Kirby Indoor Meet, senior Viktor Fajoyomi had an indoor PR of 24-2.50 (7.38m) to place second in the men's long jump competition. Redshirt sophomore Jovonte Slater finished in 19th place with a best jump of 22-5.25 (6.84m). Senior Herb Dew competed in the men's high jump and placed seventh with a season-best clearance of 6-9.75 (2.08m).

    The sophomore jumper/sprinter Faulknor ended the day for the Trojans at the Tyson Invitational by taking third in the women's long jump championship competition with an indoor PR for the second week in a row of 20-1.75 (6.14m).

    The senior Davis took fourth in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.38. She ran 7.48 in the prelims and 7.45 in the semifinals to advance. Faulknor just missed the finals, placing ninth with a time of 7.46. He had a time of 7.40 in the prelims which was the third-fastest among the qualifiers. Senior Loudia Laarman finished 13th with a time of 7.51, after running 7.50 in the prelims. Redshirt junior Charity Bruce finished 57th with a season-best time of 7.99.

    Blackburn bettered her previous PR before today three times in placing fifth in the women's 60m HH with a time of 8.29 in the finals. The senior advanced out of the semifinals with a PR of 8.26 and ran 8.30 in the prelims. Junior Melia Cox had a time of 8.50 in the prelims and semifinals to finish 15th.

    The junior Ndipagbor posted a PR of 53.20 to finish seventh in the women's 400m race. Her time currently places her 16th on the U.S. Indoor list this season. Junior Vanessa Jones finished 20th with a time of 54.64 and sophomore Jaide Stepter had a season-best time of 55.96 to finish 36th. Senior Ashley Liverpool was not feeling well and could not complete the race.
