THIS YEAR: Big things are expected out of senior Aven Wright who continues to improve in the triple jump and enters the season as USC's top returning triple jumper.
2008: Posted a PR of 50-3 1/2 (15.33m) to win the Dual Meet triple jump competition on May 3. Took sixth place in the triple jump at the Pac-10 Championships with a jump of 49-8 1/4. Qualified for the West Regional, but did not compete as he had to report for a summer internship with a company in China.
2007: Placed second in the triple jump at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28 with a wind-aided career best of 50-2 (15.29m). Had jumped 48-8 3/4 (14.85m) at the Trojan Relays on March 3. Also posted his legal best triple jump of 49-0 (14.93) at the Dual Meet. Triple jumped a wind-aided 48-10 3/4 (14.90m) to place eighth at the Pac-10 Championships held at Stanford. Also competed in the triple jump at the NCAA West Regional. Named as an honorable mention selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic team.
2006: Had a triple jump of 46-7 1/2 (14.21m) at the Long Beach Relays on March 4.
HIGH SCHOOL: Wright prepped at Junipero Serra (Calif.) High and finished fourth at the Cal state meet in the triple jump in 2005...He improved from 44 to 48-2 for a personal best in the triple jump...His best in the long jump is 21-8...He was the Central California Section champion in the triple jump.
PERSONAL: Aven was born on Jan. 20, 1987 in San Mateo, Calif....He is the son of former San Francisco 49er Pro Bowl cornerback Eric Wright...He is a Parks & Rec, Leisure & Fitness major at USC.
