    Trojans Win Eight Events At Ben Brown Invitational Saturday

    Muhammad wins both hurdles races; Mance wins 400m, Nellum 200m

    THIS SEASON: Sophomore Jaclyn Walles (JACK-lin WALL-iss) begins her second season running distances for USC. She is expected to specialize in the 3000m steeplechase race. Ran for the cross country team in the fall.

    2011: Ran her first 3000m steeplechase and placed fourth at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet in the event with a time of 11:47.37, just outside of the USC all-time top 10. Had a season-best 1500m time of 4:53.05 on March 12. Ran on the USC cross country team in the fall of 2010 and was one of the Trojans' top six finishers in every race except the Northridge Invitational which she ran just days after spending a night in the hospital due to an ucler.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Walles graduated from Venice High in Venice, Calif. in 2010...She was a two-year varsity letter winner in cross country and soccer and lettered three seasons in varsity track...Broke a combined 10 school records in track and cross country and was a five-time state championship participant...Placed 54th at the CIF State Cross Country Meet (5K) with a season-best time of 18:56...Advanced to the West Regional where she placed 97th with a time of 20:51...Took second place and helped lead her team to a third-place finish at the Western League Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:03.76...Had an XC 2-mile best time of 12:36 to win the Palos Verdes Invitational...Also won the 3-mile Staub Barnes Invitational with a time of 19:17.57...Had track and field bests of 0:59 in the 400m, 2:20 in the 800m, 5:05 in the 1600m and 11:31 in the 3200m.

    PERSONAL: Jaclyn was born on June 4, 1992 in Westchester, Calif...She likes to surf in her spare time...Is a big fan of the Lakers and USC football...Lists Steve Prefontaine as her sports hero...Is a Human and Evolutionary Biology, Human Performance major at USC....Says her favorite colors are obviously cardinal and gold...Her proudest accomplishments are winning a hot dog eating contest in New York and posting the 11th-fastest women's steeplechase time in USC history...Also notes that her favorite animals are dinosaurs and sharks, specifically T-Rex dinosaurs and Great White sharks.
