THIS SEASON: Redshirt senior Thea Weiss ranks sixth on USC's all-time pole vault list and top returning vaulter.
2013: Had a very strong year, improving her personal best by 10 inches. Opened the season by tying for second at the Rossi Relays with a then-best clearance of 11-7.75 (3.55m) on Feb. 23. Improved upon that and moved into seventh place on USC's all-time pole vault list with a vault of 12-2.00 (3.71m) as she placed third at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 9. She cleared 12-0.50 (3.67m) in placing seventh at the Dual Meet on April 27 and in placing 17th at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12. Set a PR with a clearance of 12-4.50 (3.77m) in taking fifth at the Occidental Invitational on May 4 which moved her from seventh to sixth on USC's all-time pole vault list.
2012: Weiss recorded a lifetime best in the pole vault at the dual meet jumping 11-6.50 (3.52m).
2011: Weiss redshirted her first year at USC after transferring from UC Berkeley.
BEFORE USC: Weiss attended UC Berkeley and competed in the pole vault before transferring to USC
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Granite Hills High School and was the Valedictorian of her class.
PERSONAL: Weiss was born on January 8, 1991 in Apple Valley, CA...She is double majoring in Neuroscience and English...Both her parents (Eric and Mary) and grandfather attended USC...She enjoys mountain biking and BMX racing...Her favorite musicians are Porter Robinson, Dr. Dre, Beyonce and Major Lazer, and her favorite movie is V for Vendetta...She was elected to the PAC-12 All-Academic First Team in 2012 and 2013...She hopes to continue her education in graduate school.
